A man has died at a business north of Adelaide this morning, police say. SA Police confirmed the workplace incident at a Barker Road, Waterloo Corner, business called Stillisano just after 8:00am.
They said the 35-year-old Woodville North man died at the scene after being “crushed by machinery” at a workshop. Police and SafeWork SA are investigating.
One co-worker and friend said the victim was “always happy” and a “very friendly guy”.
“I really don’t know where to start … we’re in a very bad situation,” he said. “I can’t imagine how his family is feeling.”
The man’s death is the second workplace fatality in South Australia this week, after another man died at the Ingham’s poultry plant at Burton, about five kilometres south of today’s incident, on Monday.
That man, a 53-year-old from Munno Para, was hit by a truck at the facility and died at the scene, despite the work of staff and paramedics. SafeWork SA is also investigating that incident, and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
