Victoria Enacts Law On Industrial Manslaughter

The new law of State of Victoria incriminates businesses and officers whose negligent conduct leads to incidence of workplace death and they shall be guilty of workplace manslaughter. The partnership concern, corporate entities and associations shall be liable for fines of up to AU$ 16.5 million while sole traders and officers shall face 20 years of goal time.

Charges laid over worker death in factory

WorkSafe Victoria has charged Big Hill Cranes, Cobram-based company A-1 Engineering and a New Zealand engineer after a 59-year-old man was crushed to death and another seriously injured when a condenser that had been craned into a shipping container fell at a decommissioned cheese factory on 6 December 2017.
