A man has suffered “heavy blood loss” in a horror chainsaw accident at work in Sydney. NSW Ambulance responded to reports the man had been injured in Chatswood West just before 9.30am on Monday.
Two crews and one specialist medical team from CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
Paramedics treated the construction worker, who is 32, at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
“The doctor performed a clinical assessment on the man, who had suffered heavy blood loss when his chainsaw had kicked back and caused lacerations to his neck and shoulder,” a CareFlight spokesman said.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Dennis Bungener said it was important to be careful when operating power tools.
“This is a timely reminder to take all safety precautions when using power tools at work or at home,” Inspector Bungener said.
