Two workers have been taken to hospital with facial burns after a gas bottle caught on fire at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Ambulance officers transported a 57-year-old man to Pindara Hospital with facial and neck burns along with a 19-year-old female for observations.
Functions at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre were not disrupted by the event.
Up to 2000 people were believed to be inside the building when a gas bottle burst into flames in the back kitchen but the centre was not evacuated.
Firefighters were called to the Broadbeach complex about 7pm after reports the 9kg bottle exploded. The cause was unknown.
Paramedics are treating two patients with facial and neck burns. Firefighters said they investigated the incident and made the area safe. They left the case in the hands of management.
