The CareFlight rescue helicopter was called to an accident at Balgowlah Heights. At 9.30am this morning (Friday, 04 June) emergency services were called to reports of a workplace injury at a property at Heathcliff Crescent, Balgowlah Heights.
They found a 43-year-old man who had been injured by a demolition saw. The man had sustained a 20cm laceration to his chest after the saw he had been using kicked back and struck him in the upper torso.
Two NSW Ambulance crews responded providing initial treatment, along with the CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter which landed at nearby Tania Park. A specialist doctor and critical care paramedic were conveyed to the incident scene by NSW Police.
The paramedic teams worked together to treat the man’s injuries at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition. He was transported by road ambulance with police escort, accompanied by the specialist CareFlight aeromedical crew who continued to assist NSW Ambulance paramedics with his treatment.
