WorkSafe is investigating the death of a truck driver whose body was found in a coolroom in regional Victoria.
The 50-year-old man died in a low-oxygenated room that was being used to preserve apples at a Shepparton warehouse run by trucking company Rendevski Transport.
His body was found after his truck was seen with the engine on outside the warehouse two hours after the his shift ended.
Low-oxygenated coolrooms can be used by fruit growers to extend the quality of fruit by combining low oxygen and high carbon dioxide gas mixtures with low temperatures.
WorkSafe Victoria said the man’s body was found at 2.30pm on Wednesday.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
“Police will prepare a report for the coroner,” they said.
It is Victoria’s third workplace fatality this year, compared to 11 at the same time last year.
