The St Patrick’s College community is in mourning for a former Ballarat man who was killed after a workplace accident on the Bellarine Peninsula last week.
Ocean Grove builder Greg Roberts, 37, died in hospital on Saturday after suffering an electric shock and falling from a building site in St Leonards.
Worksafe reported Mr Roberts was standing on the top deck of scaffolding at a home being renovated when he came into contact with overhead power lines.
He suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and died in hospital on November 30.
The news was met with shock by his former school in Ballarat where he was well-known.
“St Patrick’s College is devastated to hear of the tragic passing of Old Collegian Greg Roberts and will be reaching out to his family through our Old Collegians Association Pastoral care Program to offer any assistance we can in this terrible time,” Deputy Headmaster well-being Elizabeth Ryan wrote in a statement.
Worksafe are continuing to investigate the incident.
