A 43-year-old man has died after being pinned by the trailer of a truck while working on a construction site in Canberra’s north.
Police were called to the residential construction site in Taylor, Gungahlin around 11:25am after reports of a workplace incident.
Paramedics tried to save the man, but he died at the scene.
CFMEU ACT spokesman Zachary Smith said the man was near, but not on the worksite when he was pinned by the trailer.
“It’s absolutely heartbreaking that we have another fatality in the Canberra construction industry,” Mr Smith said.
“My deepest condolences and that of the CFMEU are extended to his family, his friends and his work colleagues.
“It’s absolutely tragic to think that that worker won’t return home tonight to his family, [won’t] see his mates again.”
