A man has died during a horrific workplace accident at Rozelle in Sydney’s inner west, where he was crushed by an object falling from a crane.
Emergency services were called to an address at James Craig Rd at Rozelle about 10:30am, following reports an object had fallen onto a man from a crane. A man, believed to be in his 50s, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
Police confirmed a workplace incident had occurred and that officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command, as well as Marine Area Command, attended the address. They have established a crime scene.
The address is beneath the western side of the ANZAC Bridge on Rozelle Bay.
A report will be prepared for the coroner while investigations are continuing.
There are reports the crane belongs to a barge service and that more than a dozen police officers, investigators and detectives were at the scene.
